Just realised something.  'Blog' is short for 'web log'.  A blog is a log of whatever. Your daily life. Like a diary. In that sense.

That's all it needs to be.

Everyone seems to be writing blogs for publication.  I know that's what stops me writing most of the time: I can't think of anything fit for publication - or can't be bothered doing the hard work to make what I'm thinking of intelligible, fit for publication.

But I don't need to do any of that, do I?

I just need to write my 'web log'.  For me.

Log my activities.

Mental. Physical. Whatever.

And you know what? That's all I want to do, really.

A thought just occurred to me: what about keeping this log? Can that be done? Can we download and keep our weblogs?

It is far easier for me to write here than keep a physical diary.

And one of the easier aspects is that a physical diary is another book I have to keep track of, look after. I've got too many of them already.

Whereas the web log is always there.

Or is it?   Blogger.com could disappear at any time, couldn't it?

I think I need to find out if we can download our blogs.
